A goodportion of our law firms new clientele are former clients of other law firms. We receive numerous calls from potential clients that are dissatisfied with thelegal services they receive from their current attorney. They are looking toupgrade to Grossman Law Offices due to our enhanced resources our strongertrack record of successful recoveries or they are simply looking for a moreattentive law firm.

The burning question in the mind of the client is How do I go aboutfiring my attorney?

When you enter into a relationship with an attorney you will generally sign acontract with them and in the case of personal injury law the contract willgenerally state that you are hiring the attorney on a contingency fee basis.

This effectively means that the attorney agrees to represent you in your claimat no up front cost to you. The attorney is compensated by retaining apercentage of the settlement but only if such a recovery is made. If theattorney has not recovered a settlement for you then technically you do not owethe attorney any money and are free to terminate your relationship with themupon finding a suitable replacement.

However in some instances an attorney will accrue additional expenses whileworking your case such as hiring an expert witness or investigator to provideor gather evidence for your claim or in many cases the attorney will cover theupfront court costs associated with filing a law suit on your behalf.

This would entitle that attorney to reimbursement for those expenses. If youreplace that attorney with a competent and fair replacement the new attorneywill generally work out all of those details and ensure that everyone istreated fairly.

The bottom line is that just because you sign a contract with an attorney itdoes not mean that you can not fire them and hire a new attorney if they arenot living up to your expectations. You as the client deserve to align yourselfwith a law firm that has the experience and the know how to get you what youdeserve.

If you feel that you are not getting what you deserve from your currentattorney call Grossman Law Offices today. We will be glad to provide you withfree legal advice to help you to make the most educated decision.
