HOUSTON, TX — One person was killed, and a passenger was seriously hurt in a crash in Houston, Texas on Saturday, March 29th, 2014, according to a news report from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the report, Sergio Aguirre was a passenger in a Chrysler 300 when the vehicle drifted off the road and collided with a nearby tree while driving on The North Freeway. The accident was reported to authorities around 2:00 in the morning.

Sergio Aguirre was taken by EMS to a nearby Ben Taub hospital where he was last listed in serious condition. Killed in the accident was the driver, identified in the report as Zoila Castillo, who was pronounced dead on the scene.

The investigation into the accident is being handled by officials from the Texas Department of Transportation.
