Wednesday, July 31st 2013 — Richard Wassmuth, 51, was identified in reports as the driver of a Freightliner truck that was involved in an accident with a pickup truck north of Vancouver, WA early on Wednesday. Wassmuth was taken to Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center for treatment of lacerations to the leg that he sustained in the accident.

Accident reports detailing the events leading up to the accident note that the driver of the pickup truck that was the other vehicle involved in the accident allegedly went over the center line of SR 502 and initiated the accident. Investigation into the accident has not yet concluded, but it was noted in preliminery reports that police do not suspect alcohol to be a factor in the accident.
