The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Key Baby have issued a voluntary recall of approximately 14000 Natural Stages Infant Pacifiers that were sold from Sept. 2010 to March 2011 due to the possibility of a choking hazard. The affected pacifiers were sold in blue yellow and pink colors. The back plate width of the pacifier does not meet specific safety standards. Those with affected pacifiers should immediately discontinue usage of the pacifier and contact Key Baby at 800-447-1224 for a refund replacement or coupon. More information can be found at the Key Baby Pacifier Recall website.

Its never a good thing to hear about recalls affecting products intended for use by children especially when the product is something that is used on a constant basis by a small child. When such recalls are announced there are any number of issues that may have resulted in such a product getting to market. While there have been no news reports regarding possible injuries caused by this product such unsafe products can cause severe injury and product manufacturers have a responsibility to consumers to ensure that their products do not cause harm especially when their products are intended for children.
