Bryan Fedak Seriously Injured in DUI Accident in Pocono Township, PA

Bryan Fedak a 22-year-old Carbondale resident was seriously injured in a wreck that occurred on Saturday Oct. 23 around 2:05 a.m. on I-80 in Pocono Township Pennsylvania. Fedak was a passenger in a pickup truck when Terrance Reed 26 of Tobyhanna attempted to pass the pickup truck in his own car. The car spun into the pickup truck. A tow truck was also attempting to pass at the same time but managed to escape the wreck. Reed fled the Scene of the Accident. He was charged with drunken driving fleeing the accident and aggravated assault by vehicle. Reed has also been paroled earlier in the month for a cocaine possession conviction. Fedak was taken to Pocono Medical Center then flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest and treated for several broken bones and other injuries. Reed was taken to Pocono Medical Center and then sent to Monroe County Prison for violating the terms of his probation. According to police Reed saw the tow truck moving into the left lane and attempted to swerve to miss it. Reed was not hurt in the accident but his passengers suffered minor injuries. Reed was later arraigned on charges of driving under the influence aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence reckless endangerment reckless driving failure to stop and render aid failure to notify police of an accident involving injury and driving at an unsafe speed. Reed also had a prior drunken driving conviction from 2008.

While its unfortunate that a person suffered an injury due to the negligence of a drunk driver its fortunate that loss of life didnt occur in this particular accident when fatalities are such a sad but common occurrence in drunken driving accidents. The victim in this accident may consider contacting his family attorney in order to see what his legal options may be. Dram shop laws exist in many states that are used to hold negligent alcohol-serving establishments accountable for their actions in contributing to drunk driving accidents. However it should be noted that these laws vary from state to state. Regardless the liable parties should be held accountable for their negligent behavior that resulted in this accident.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
