Authorities in charge of the investigation from the Illinois State Troopers have not yet identified the employees injured in a workplace explosion on Monday, April 1st, 2013. Police and accident investigators currently suspect that two Northstar Metal Products employees were injured when heavy machinery exploded without warning around noontime Monday. The report does not clearly illustrate the nature of the explosion, or the type of machinery involved. The explosion resulted in a fire inside the factory.

According to the report, one as-of-yet unidentified individual was transported by emergency response personnel to nearby Adventist GlenOaks Hospital where an update on their condition was not made immediately available by hospital staff. Another unidentified Northstar Metal Employee was reportedly treated at the scene for unspecified injuries stemming from the blast. It is not immediately clear if investigators from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration will be evaluating the accident. No other injuries or fatalities were reported in the explosion. The investigation into the blast is currently active and ongoing.
