Katherine Emerson Hit and Injured by Semi-Truck in Wrong-Way Portland, OR Accident
Portland, OR — Police have estimated that a semi-truck driver was under the influence of alcohol when he drove for almost 10 miles in the opposite lanes of traffic early Monday morning, March 18. According to the news reports, Katherine Emerson, 24, was injured when her car was hit by a semi-truck driven by Kenneth Burgess, 49, on the Glenn Jackson Bridge.
Emerson was driving along the bridge (I-205) in the early morning hours when Burgess’ semi truck crashed into her car. She was injured and taken to Southwest Washington Medical Center, where she was later released. Police at the scene said that Burgess, who had driven on I-84 before turning on I-205, was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and arrested for DUI.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.
