According to local news reports, two young women are still hospitalized after a serious car accident that left two people dead in Abilene, TX last Friday. Rebekah Cherniss, 18, and Deanna Romero, 19, were reportedly at a local Abilene hospital as of January 30 after a pickup truck that they were in was hit by another vehicle on January 25 on the outskirts of town.
Accident Location
The accident left Lindsey Smith, 20, and Jeffrey Davis, 27, dead as a passenger in the truck and the driver of the offending vehicle, respectively. Cherniss, Smith, and Romero were three of six ACU students in the truck and the other three were reportedly in good condition though they, too, had been injured by the wreck. Davis’ running a stop sign was likely the cause of the wreck, police said, but the matter is still open to investigation.
