Clinton Lake, KS — The two men who were injured this past Sunday (August 23, 2015) south of Clinton Lake after their car was in an accident with a driver who was accused of being under the influence of alcohol. Police said that Carmelo Cantu and Erick Estrada were both in critical condition after their car rear-ended another one on County Road 950.
This happened on Sunday evening, near the intersection with County Road 850.
The police said it looks like Cantu was driving a Honda Civic east along Coutny Road 950 that evening and had Erick Estrada as a passenger when they suddenly rear-ended a Ford Focus driven by Teodulo Bernardino Ortiz, 26 years old.
The accident did major damage to both vehicles and Cantu & Estrada were both taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for their injuries. Ortiz, however, did not require medical treatment, though police said he was likely under the influence of alcohol at the time.
he now faces potential charges.
Update: Another report was recently released saying that both drivers may have been under the influence. This hasn’t been verified yet.
