Fostoria, OH — The police out in Fostoria reported that a woman and a child were both hospitalized with serious injuries last month after their ATV was hit by an alleged drunk driver. They said that 45-year old Kimberly Zacharias and a 6-year old girl were both badly hurt after 56-year old John Barchus rand into the back of their ATV with his car.
This happened on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at about 9:30 p.m. at night.
From the news reports, it appears that Mrs. Zacharias was pushing an ATV along Township Road 112/Center Road that night with the 6-year old girl riding as passenger.
They came to the intersection with State Route 587 that night, the police said, which is where John Barchus came upon them with his Pontiac and failed to brake in time.
He crashed into both Mrs. Zacharias and the ATV, leaving her and the child with very serious injuries. They were rushed to a nearby hospital and the police at the scene charged Barchus with OUI (operating under the influence). At the last update, it looked like Kimberly Zacharias and the girl were both in serious condition.
