Warren, NJ — On Saturday, July 11, a speeding car caused a series of accidents that eventually claimed the driver’s life and his son’s life and left two other men with serious injuries. Police said that George Frisoli and Calvin Spann, 22 and 23, were both taken to hospitals and that Stephen Weekes, 39, and his son, 9-year old Anthony, both died in the accidents that happened that night.
They said that this all started around 8:45 p.m. on I-78 in the Warren/Berkeley Heights area. A patrol officer spotted Weekes’ car going “well over 100 mph” on I-78 that night and gave chase.
In the process, Weekes car clipped a Hyundai Elantra that carried both George Frisoli and Calvin Spann. They pulled over on the side of the road as the police continued their chase. As the young men got out of their Hyundai, however, a Porsche Boxster came upon them and failed to stop in time, hitting both Frisoli and Spann in the process.
Both men and the Porsche’s driver, 32-year old Eliza Deck, were rushed to hospitals with varying injuries.
Meanwhile, the police continued to chase Weekes’ car, but he ran into the median shortly thereafter and crashed into some trees. Both Stephen and Anthony Weekes were killed in the accident.
Right now, it’s not clear why he was driving so fast that night, but investigative tests are being conducted.
