Two employees of Bronco Oilfield Services were injured while performing equipment maintenance at a natural gas well in DeSoto Parish. 50-year-old Jesus Ortez remains hospitalized after losing his hand Tuesday night due to pressure exerted by a valve. The other worker was treated and released for minor injuries. The two were working on a gas well operated by Chesapeake Operating at the time.
Losing a hand is a workplace injury that Ortez will have to deal with for a lifetime. There will of course be staggering medical bills waiting for him as well as lifelong treatment ahead of him. He may very well lose his ability to work in the future. If you have been injured due to the negligence action or inaction of another you may be considering recovering compensation for your damages. If so talk with a personal injury lawyer first. They can review your case determine if you may be eligible to recover damages and if so file a personal injury lawsuit on your behalf.
