Commentary:
Just from what I’ve read in the news, something tells me that the company behind the dump truck is going to find themselves squarely at the business end of some very difficult questions regarding this accident. Judging by the fact that the truck rear-ended a passenger car and still having enough momentum to crash partially into a restaurant, I’d be willing to go out on a limb and say that the dump truck probably had a great deal of speed and momentum behind it. If the truck was going fast enough to have momentum after hitting a car, I’d say that he was probably going too fast to begin with. These truck drivers are trained extensively on tailoring their speed to make stopping a manageable feat in the event of an emergency. Now, considering what happened here, either the driver was speeding, or simply had their eyes off the road at the worst possible moment. In either case, the trucking company is probably going to be shouldered with the fault.
