Commentary:
The media seems to imply that the tractor-trailer may have run the light or the stop sign at the intersection before the accident. If this turns out to be correct, then putting the trucking company in a position to answer for why shouldn’t be terribly difficult, but even if there is camera footage of the driver clearly running a light and causing an accident, clear as day, I’d be willing to bet that the trucking company would still put up resistance. This industry seems to believe they are incapable mistake, and will usually do anything to defend their bottom line from these kinds of accidents. They always feel that the damages and costs are overblown by victims, but in reality, these damages have to be proven in court.
