Watchung, NJ — Two people were hospitalized following a car accident in Watchung, New Jersey, on Saturday, February 28, 2015. The accident took place on Hillcrest Road, around 1:10 in the afternoon.
Local reports identify 63-year old Merle Lockhart as the man who was headed north on Hillcrest when he crossed the road’s center line and crashed into another vehicle being driven by 39-year old Lawrence Ditzel.
Emergency workers were forced to extricate Ditzel from his vehicle before taking him to Robert Wood Johnson hospital for a leg injury. Lockhart was taken to Morristown Memorial Hospital for a head injury.
Lockhart was cited by police for failure to maintain his lane, as well as careless driving.
