Commentary
Whether you’re in a car, on a bike or a scooter, or jogging, it’s important to take proper safety precautions when you’re out on the road. Being seriously hurt because of some small mistake would be a horrible that could have very serious and very lasting repercussions. However, while out on the rod, we’re really not just responsible for ourselves. We all have a duty to watch out for the safety of those around us, whether they’re in another vehicle, a pedestrian, riding a scooter, etc. Looking at accidents like this, it is possible for a driver to be held liable if it’s found that the reason for the accident was that they just weren’t paying enough attention to the road. While yes, there are things that people on the road need to do for themselves, but we also owe a duty to others we share the road with.
