JONESBORO, GA — Police officer John Davis was taken to the hospital after an accident with a box truck that happened in Jonesboro, Georgia on Thursday, February 12th, 2015. Local news reported that the accident happened at about 11:15 Thursday morning.
Authorities said that 46-year-old Officer John Davis was hurt when the police patrol vehicle he was driving was hit by a box truck at the intersection of Rick Daley Boulevard and Tara Boulevard. Investigators said that they believe the box truck ran the red light at the intersection when it collided with the patrol vehicle.
Davis was taken to the hospital after the accident where he was last listed in stable condition. The driver of the box truck was identified as 31-year-old Justin Musa, who was cited for the accident.
Geogria State Police are helping Clayton County officials with the accident investigation.

If the news and the authorities turn out to be correct, and the box truck driver did in fact run the red light as they allege, then the company behind the box truck is probably going to fight any claim that comes their way from the accident. “But if they ran the red light, don’t they have to make things right?” Absolutely not. For some reason, trucking companies and the trucking industry as a whole seems to believe that any claim against them is frivolous, and overblown (when damages have to be proven in court). In reality, if this truck driver ran the light, this would more than likely be considered negligence per-se, and would probably put the trucking company in quite a bit of hot water.
