Young Girl Hospitalized After Pit Bull Attack in Smackover, Arkansas

Union County, Arkansas — A young girl, 3 years old, was badly injured last week in Arkansas after a pit bull attack in Smackover. Police said that the girl was injured after three pit bull dogs attacked her on Tuesday, December 23, 2014.
The owner of the pit bulls was later arrested and charged, police said, and was identified as Michael Eugene Sikes. They said that a woman was moving some things into Sikes’ home last Tuesday and opened a bedroom door where three pit bull dogs had been locked up.
Allegedly, the woman left the door open and the dogs got out, attacking the woman’s 3-year old daughter. After the young girl was taken to Arkansas Children’s Hospital for emergency treatment, Sikes was arrested by Union County Sheriff’s Office deputies and charged with having vicious dogs at large (3 counts).
The dogs were apparently transferred to the pound in El Dorado.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.
