STATEN ISLAND, NY — Raquel Calleja died after an accident with an alleged drunk driver in Staten Island, New York on Monday, December 29th, 2014. The article from DNA Info said that the accident happened at about 11:20 Monday night.
41-year-old Raquel Calleja was killed when the car Toyota 4Runner she was driving and a Ford Explorer collided while driving at the intersection of Huguenot Avenue and Hylan. Police said that the offending vehicle may have run the red light at the intersection.
Calleja was pronounced dead after she was taken to Staten Island University North Hospital. The driver of the other vehicle was identified as 26-year-old Jennifer Montano, who was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
Montano currently faces drunk driving related charges in connection with the accident.
New York Police Department authorities are looking in to more details about the crash at this time.
