Commentary
I’ve come across several accidents in my time as an attorney in which blame is very obvious, but police file no charges. Unfortunately, many people don’t understand that this has no direct bearing on any claim they may wish to file. Police handle the criminal side of the things, in case a law has been broken. However, even that does not obligate an at-fault party to make things right. The civil side of things is always the victim’s responsibility, and it’s up to them to get the ball rolling.
