This case is going to depend on the accuracy of a few facts reported in the news. First of all, if the truck collided with the rear of five other vehicles, I’d be interested in having a look at the brakes, and how long ago the truck was worked on for repairs or parts replacement. If the truck had fallen into a dangerous state of disrepair, and the brakes failed at the worst possible time, then the trucking company needs to be held accountable for their actions that led to the accident. Additionally, I’d have investigators trace the fire back to the source. If the source of the fire came from a poor design decision, or a faulty part, the truck’s manufacturer or the maker of the faulty part could bear a portion of the responsibility.
