The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (USCPSC) has alerted consumers to a recall of the Flushmate III Pressure-Assisted Flushing System. Consumers have reported that the product has been exploding causing blunt force trauma and lacerations in some cases. Those who purchased a Flushmate III Pressure-Assisted Flushing System are being told to shut off the water supply to the toilet and to contact the manufacturer.
The devices were produced between the years of 1997 through 2008 and sold at supply stores such as Lowes and Home Depot. The USCPSC estimates that over two million toilets in the United States have been produced with the Flushmate device.
