According to Athens TX news reports a horseback rider was injured when a car struck him and his horse at the intersection of Jonathan Street and Third Street. The local officials in Athens said that 51-year old Willie Davis was riding his horse along Third Street when he may have ridden into the path of a oncoming car.

Police said that a car driven by 54-year old Ronnie Lowe struck the horse and Davis was thrown from the collision. He was taken to the East Texas Medical Center later with minor injuries sources said. During the accident police said the horse shatter the windshield of Lowes car.
