Local news sources stated that an accident in Hemet CA near Hemet High School left several students injured and 15-year old Helen Richardson in critical condition. Police said that 18-year old Daniel Carrillo was driving near the school and was reportedly driving 50 miles per hour well over the speed limit when he struck 8 students in a crosswalk.

Carrillo reportedly claimed that his brakes were malfunctioning but authorities are investigating the vehicle and any mechanical issues. The other seven students injured in the accident who were not named were treated and released from local medical centers.
