Commentary:
I can’t help but feel a tinge of anger when I see a truck cross into oncoming traffic. While we see this type of accident almost every day, it does not make it any easier. More often than not, these types of accidents are caused by driver distraction, and luckily technology has made it easier and easier to prove this kind of negligence. We have seen a case where a truck driver was surfing on the phone looking at Facebook when he drove his truck into the back of a car, killing one person. We only knew he was on his phone by looking at his records, and the fact that the trucking company had a driver-facing camera mounted in the truck. While there are more devices that have the potential for distraction, there is also more evidence for when an accident is caused by a distracted driver.
