John Deere has issued a recall on approximately 36500 tractors due to a risk of overheating and fire hazards. The products in question are X300 X300R and X304 series tractors. John Deere reports 163 failures of the engine cooling fan including 83 reports which detail engine melting and/or fires. A burn injury has been reported as well. The tractors were sold between September 2010 through August 2011. For more information contact John Deere & Company at (800) 537-8233.
Commentary
This marks the second recall issued by the company this week. Some of my blogs have listed recalls resulting in a claim or two here or there but folks 163 reported failures is a rather sizable number. This is even more serious when a burn injury has been reported. When a company determines their products to have some form of defect typically they issue a recall in an effort to mitigate liability and reduced damages owed. As mentioned this being a sizable recall my readers should take caution if they determine they own one of the aforementioned tractors and contact that John Deere number.
