Thirty seven people were injured on Saturday morning when the Andrew J. Barberi ferry apparently lost its braking power and slammed into a Staten Island pier. Crew members scrambled to warn passengers near the front of the ferry as the problem became clear. All 37 injured passengers were taken to local hospitals to be treated. Most had been released as of Monday morning. The ferry involved in this accident is the very same ferry that crashed into a pier in 2003 killing 11 people and injuring 70.
