Max Mills Critically Injured in Dallas, TX Motorcycle Accident While Allegedly Racing Corvette

Dallas, TX — 38-year-old Max Mills was critically injured in an accident that occurred on Monday, December 7, around 10:20 a.m. when his vehicle was clipped by a newer model black Corvette that he was allegedly racing on IH-35, between Raceway and Regal Row.

According to police, Mills was heading south on IH-35 when witnesses say he was racing a black Corvette. The Corvette allegedly cut across traffic from the left-hand to right-hand lane, clipping the Mills’ front tire. This caused Mills to lose control of the motorcycle and crash.

The driver of the Corvette didn’t stop at the scene, and police are asking witnesses with information to come forward and contact the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office at 214-589-2335.

Police are still investigating. More information will be available at a later date.

Commentary:

While to some people, it may look like the injured party was at fault in the accident, even drivers who are participating in unsafe practices have rights. This is because of something called comparative fault.

In Texas, if a jury finds one driver to be more than 50 percent at fault for an accident, he or she will have to be responsible for any injuries or deaths sustained by the other party.

Now, it isn’t clear exactly what happened in this accident, and it would be up to a jury to decide, but this is clearly an accident that needs to be investigated before just blaming the victim.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
