Waco, TX — Eighteen people were injured after a 14-vehicle accident involving several semi-trucks on Interstate 35 on Monday, November 30, around 3:00 p.m.
According to reports, three crashes quickly occurred one right after the other on Interstate 35. The first accident involved one car striking the rear of a vehicle that slowed for traffic which caused several vehicles, including a truck towing heavy construction equipment.
Two semi-trucks, along with a line of vehicles behind them, slowed to avoid the first collision before a semi-truck failed to slow down and side-swiped all of the vehicles before colliding with the second semi-truck. Several of the vehicles were pushed off the roadway.
Following the second accident, another driver slowed to avoid the first two wreck and caused another chain of collisions.
After the three different accidents, eighteen people sustained various injuries. Several were reported to be in critical condition. All of those injured were transported to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center for treatment.
Police are still investigating the series of accident, and they claim several drivings will receive citations.
