Amarillo, TX — Two people were sent to a hospital last Tuesday night (November 24, 2015) after a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on the east side of Amarillo. Police said that Gregory Adkins, 57, and Cheryl Shogren, 51, were both injured after an SUV hit them on the I-40 access road.
The accident happened at about 9:00 p.m. that Tuesday night while Adkins was pushing Shogren in a wheelchair.
The news said that Adkins and Shogren were in the right-hand lane of the interstate’s eastbound access road, near the exit for Lakeside Drive, when they were hit by a silver SUV.
The driver stopped for a moment, but then fled the scene.
Paramedics were called to the scene and took both Adkins and Shogren to a nearby hospital, but it’s not clear how badly they were hurt.
Police said that Adkins and Shogren may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time, but that hasn’t been confirmed yet.
