Portage, IN – An employee was seriously injured after an industrial accident on October 20, 2015. The accident occurred Tuesday afternoon.
According to reports, an employee was working at an industrial business, located at 6721 Waterway Drive, when he became entrapped beneath a 5,000 pound roll of steel coil. An overhead crane and multiple forklifts were used to lift the coil off the employee.
The worker was seriously injured in the accident. He was transported by air to South Bend Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The accident is under investigation by the company and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
His identity was not released pending family notification.
