Grand Rapids, MI – Five people were injured in a collision with a fire truck in Grand Rapids on Saturday, November 21st, 2105. The accident happened around 10:15 am.
From what we can tell, a fire truck with the Grand Rapids Fire Department was responding to another accident along westbound Interstate 196, between Lake Michigan Drive and Market Avenue, when a Ford Focus allegedly lost control and crashed into the rear of the truck
There were five occupants inside the Ford: a 31-year-old male driver, a 26-year-old woman, and three children.
The children, ranging from ages 5 to 8, were not reported to be injured but were taken to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital for observation.
The driver was extricated from the vehicle and the woman was unconscious at the scene. Both are believe to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities are still looking into the specifics of the accident.
