One Injured in Manor Township, PA 18-Wheeler Accident

Manor Township, PA — One person was injured in a four-vehicle accident that occurred around 3:45 near the intersection of Route 422 and Scene Drive.

Police say a four-vehicle accident was likely caused from an initial impact that occurred between a coal bucket truck and an SUV. The SUV then hit the back of a Ford F-150, which then ran into the back of a DLC Expediting Courier van.

Police say the roads were slick and initially suspected the coal bucket truck of going too fast for the weather conditions. They also stated that the impact must have been very hard to caused the chain-reaction crash.

The front seat passenger in the SUV was injured. The current condition of this passenger is unknown.

Commentary:

Drivers of large commercial vehicles like coal bucket trucks are required to make sure they are driving the speed limit like everyone else, and in addition, they must make allowances for the fact that these large vehicles take longer to stop and can’t turn as quickly as smaller vehicles.

In a circumstance like this one, the truck should have taken even more care than usual during rainy weather conditions. Police reports aren’t always correct, but assuming that the police are correct in their assumption that this truck must have hit with a lot of force to cause the accident, this may show the driver was either speeding or not paying attention to the traffic around them when her or she collided with the vehicle in front of him or her.

Regardless of weather conditions, truck drivers need to be able to compensate for the weather and to be responsible for the damage they cause if they aren’t taking extra care on the roadways.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
