San Francisco, CA — 12-year-old Juan Melendez and 12-year-old Peter Nguyen were both injured when they were hit by an alleged drunk-driver on Wednesday, November 4, around 8:30 a.m.
According to authorities, 30-year-old Kirsten Andereck has been charged with driving under the influence when her BAC levels were over the legal limit on the day in question. Andereck appeared in court and pleaded not guilty.
The boys suffered head trauma, fractured hips, and other injuries. Melendez has since been released from the hospital, but Nguyen apparently is suffering from a serious brain injury.
Police are still investigating, and if Andereck is found guilty, she may face fines and jail time.
