Monmouth County, NJ — A school bus driver was injured on Friday, October 23, when the school bus and an 18-wheeler collided on southbound Route 35 near the intersection of New Monmouth Road in Middletown, New Jersey.
According to the Middletown Police Department, the school bus was empty at the time of the accident and was not a Middletown Township Public School Bus. The driver allegedly hit the back of an 18-wheeler that was parked on Route 35. It was not clear if the 18-wheeler was parked legally, and the driver fled the scene after the accident.
Police are still searching for the driver of the 18-wheeler. The school bus driver had to be extricated from the bus and first responders were administering oxygen and intravenous fluids, according to reports.
