Lowell, MA – 3 people were seriously injured when 2 cars collided on Pawtucket Blvd. shortly before 4 p.m., Tuesday afternoon in Lowell, MA.
Reports of witness accounts say that a red SUV was driving excessively fast when it hit a curb, lost control, and slammed head-on into a white sedan. The two occupants of the SUV, both 24-year-old males, suffered life-threatening injuries and were transported to hospitals in Boston. The driver was apparently unconscious when paramedics arrived. The 24-year-old female driver of the sedan suffered serious, but not necessarily life-threatening injuries and was taken to Lowell General Hospital. There is no update on the condition of any of the injured.
The authorities are investigating the accident. They have no public comment at this time about the witness statements, but it appears very likely that speed contributed to the accident. Local media is also reporting that speeding on this particular section of Pawtucket Blvd. has become a growing problem lately.
