Cuba, Missouri — An elderly woman from Steelville was injured in Cuba this past Thursday morning after her Nissan SUV was hit by a semi-truck. This happened along Highway 19 and she was identified as 80-year-old Avis Barber.
The accident took place within the Cuba city limits at about 10:15 a.m. on Thursday morning, September 10, 2015.
Barber had been driving west along a side road and was apparently trying to make a left-hand turn onto Highway 19 that morning when she was accidentally hit by a passing 18-wheeler truck. That driver, 52-year-old Darnell Jefferson, wasn’t harmed by the accident, but Avis Barber was rushed to a hospital via helicopter.
No updates on Mrs. Barber’s condition have been issued since then.
