Dade City, Florida — A worker for the Paso County Public Works department was sent to a hospital this past Wednesday morning (September 9, 2015) after she was hit while using a riding lawnmower. The worker’s name is being released as Linda Gundaker, 56 years old.
The accident happened around 9:00 a.m in the morning, off a street called Calle De Milagros. However, that specific street didn’t pull up on any map.
From what the news is reporting, it appears that Gundaker was mowing some grass on the shoulder of the road that morning when an SUV driven by 70-year old Joel Caphart lost control and drove off the roadway.
His Suzuki SUV crashed into Gundaker as she was mowing, throwing her from the mower. The impact also caused the lawnmower to catch fire.
Paramedics were called and they took Gundaker to a hospital via helicopter. Her injuries weren’t disclosed, but they were likely serious. It doesn’t appear that Mr. Caphart was badly hurt, though he may face charges for the accident. Right now, troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol are investigating this further. They haven’t posted any updates so far.
