Decatur, TX – Lonnie Phipps was injured when his tanker-truck rolled in Decatur on Sunday, August 23rd, 2015. The accident happened at 6:45 pm.
Phipps was driving the 18-wheeler at the intersection of U.S. 287 and U.S. 380 when the incident occurred. It appears he exited off of U.S. 380 where he ultimately rolled the tractor-trailer on the loop that transitions to U.S. 287.
Those at the site said he appeared to be in good health, but he was taken to Wise Regional Health Systems for observation and evaluation.
At this time, it isn’t clear is excessive speed, distracted driving, or mechanical malfunction played any part in this accident.
