Wyckoff, NJ — On Wednesday of this week, there was an accident along Route 208 in Wyckoff that left two tow truck drivers with injuries, one more serious than the other. Police said that this happened on Wednesday morning, August 26, 2015 at about 10:00 a.m.
The tow truck drivers involved were Damien Addis, 38 years old, and Anthony Ortiz, age unknown.
It appears that Ortiz was driving a tow truck south along Route 208 that morning, hauling a vehicle, when he was rear-ended by Damien Addis’ tow truck. The police are saying that Addis may not have realized that traffic in front of him, including Ortiz’ tow truck, was slowing down.
The accident badly damaged both tow trucks and the vehicles they were hauling, but the drivers were injured as well.
Police said that Addis was rushed to a hospital with severe leg injuries while Ortiz was injured with (less) serious leg and back injuries. Right now, it’s not clear if they have been released from the hospital yet.
The news didn’t mention anything about charges being filed either.
Addis was driving a tow truck for Austin Towing out of Ramsey and Ortiz’s tow truck was owned by JML Towing out of Wayne.
