Little Rock, Arkansas – A contract worker was injured in an accident that also caused a power failure in North Little Rock, Arkansas on Wednesday, August 26th, 2015. The incident happened just before 11:15 am.
From what we can tell, the man was working on a 12,000-volt line on Willow Beach Road when part of it fell on him. He was reported to have burns covering approximately twenty percent of his body following the accident.
He was airlifted to University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. His condition is not known.
At this time, there’s no work on what happened to cause the power lines to fall on the worker.

Commentary:
We don’t really seem to know what happened here. There aren’t a lot of details available to tell us what caused the power line to fall onto this worker. Burn injuries are pretty serious and they can drastically impact a person for their rest of their life.
With that being said, I hope a thorough investigation is taking place into what went wrong. I’d be interested to know if workers were provided with the safety equipment and training their needed before they were put into a position to face this kind of dangerous situation. The other thing I didn’t see mentioned, was if this happened as the result of some sort of product failure. Again, we don’t have a lot of details. So, we’ll all kind of speculating at this point.
