Queens, NY — On Monday of this week, August 24, 2015, a Resorts World Casino bus full of passengers crashed into the corner of an apartment complex after their driver lost control. About 6 people were injured, including the driver, who was in serious condition.
This happened in the Rego Park area of Queens, along 63rd Avenue.
The large, red charter bus was headed along 63rd Avenue on Monday afternoon at about 2:30 p.m. when he lost control for unknown reasons and veered off the road, hopping the curb and plowing into the side of an apartment building.
The bus took out a large portion of the building and the bus driver, 5 passengers, and 1 person inside the building were rushed to local hospitals.
Later, the bus driver was identified as 39-year old James Honodrat.
Edit: A later report claimed that the charter bus was actually cut off by another car, which is why Honodrtat swerved off the side of the road.

Commentary:
I don’t know whether the part about this bus being cut off by another driver is true or not, but if it’s not, then this bus driver has some serious explaining to do. The passengers on that bus (or any bus, for that matter) are owed a legal duty by the company that owns the bus. Essentially, in exchange for money, the bus will safely take them from Point A to Point B, but it doesn’t sound like that happened here.
