Commentary
Taking into account the time of day at which this accident happened, I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that the driver who caused this accident was at a bar at some point prior to the accident. It’s important that that’s looked into. Lawmakers in Michigan have said that establishments serving alcohol aren’t allowed to serve those who are obviously intoxicated. The reasoning behind this is that, the more someone drinks, the greater chance they have of going out and getting into an accident. That’s obviously an undesirable outcome, so lawmakers have said that when a bar ignores this and over-serves someone, they can be held responsible for any accidents that person gets into. Obviously, bars aren’t involved in all DUI accidents, but it would still be a smart move to see if a bar was involved in this one.
