Corpus Christi, TX — A man was killed and two others were injured in an accident that took place in Corpus Christi, Texas, on Sunday, August 16, 2015. The accident took place in the 3900 block of South Padre Island Drive, around 2:30 in the morning.

The victim was a passenger inside a Toyota passenger vehicle. Police say the Toyota was speeding when it crashed into the back of a Nissan before running into a concrete pillar.

The force of the collision was pushed into the intersection of SPID and Weber, and the driver suffered minor injuries.

Given the time this accident happened at, I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that alcohol was involved. I also wouldn’t be surprised to learn that the driver had been out at a bar at some point previous to the crash that night. That’s something that needs to be looked into. The thing is, lawmakers in Texas forbid bars from serving those who are obviously intoxicated. If that happened here (and it does happen), the bar that did the over-serving could be held liable for the crash. Unfortunately, some bars out there don’t understand the need to serve responsibly, and they need to be held responsible for that. Of course, bars aren’t always involved in accidents like this one, but when they are, it’s important that they’re found out and held responsible. The more bars that are, the less we’ll see accidents like this one in the future.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
