East Point, GA — Twelve people were injured in an accident with a MARTA bus in East Point, Georgia, on Thursday, August 13, 2015. The accident took place at the intersection of Woodbury Avenue and Delowe Drive, around 5:45 in the afternoon.
Officials are saying that the accident happened because of a vehicle that ran a red light and crashed into the bus. Reports have said that this, in turn, led to the bus crashing into a third vehicle. The second collision, however, hasn’t been confirmed. Eight people on the bus, and four people inside the first vehicle, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Police cited the driver of the first vehicle. The names of those involved weren’t released.
The accident is still being investigated.

Accidents like this one can create a bit of a mad dash to the courthouse to be first in line when it comes to filing insurance claims. The reason for this is that an insurance policy isn’t an endless supply of money. Because this accident was caused by a passenger car, that insurance policy isn’t going to go very far. Obviously, had the bus been at fault for this accident, things would look very different here. Any bus that carries more than 15 passengers is required to carry quite a bit of insurance, actually. However, from whats been reported about this accident, it doesn’t seem as if the bus driver could have done anything to avoid what happened here.
