Austin, Texas — A local man named Arthur McGuire was badly injured this past Tuesday (August 11, 2015) in Austin after a hit-and-run driver struck him as he was riding his bicycle around town. The man who struck the McGuire was eventually found and arrested by police: 22-year old Julian Luna.
The accident happened at the intersection of Applegate Drive and Lamar Boulevard, which is shown on the maps below.
According to the news, McGuire was riding his bike along the roadway that Tuesday when Luna’s pickup truck crashed into him, then sped off. Fortunately, a Good Samaritan was nearby to render aid and identify the truck for police later.
The accident is still being investigated, but Luna is likely facing charges. The injuries to McGuire were serious and though he will recover, the hospital said that he will have long-lasting effects and possible impairment.
