Dennison, TX — Police arrested a woman who was injured in an alleged DUI accident in Denison, Texas, on Friday, July 31, 2015. The accident took place just off of Texoma Parkway, near Lana’s Salon and Day Spa, around midnight.
Police say that Candace Hilliard was headed north on the expressway when she lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a utility pole. The utility pole was pulled down, which in turn pulled down two other poles, one of which hit a mobile home.
After the accident, Hilliard attempted to flee on foot. Police found her not far away, determined that she was drunk, and placed her under arrest. Any injuries she sustained in the accident are unclear.

Anytime I see an accident in which the driver is determined to have been intoxicated, I always want to know whether or not a bar was involved. Lawmakers in Texas have said that if a person is visibly intoxicated, a bar can’t serve them. Sometimes bars do this anyway. When that happens, the bar can be held liable if that person goes out and gets into an accident. Of course, a bar won’t be involved in every accident like this one, but when they turn out to be, they need to be held responsible. Right alongside the drunk driver, who we can’t forget shoulders a lot of blame for the accident themselves.
