Rapid City, South Dakota — Julio Rivera was injured in a motorcycle accident on Thursday, August 6, 2015.
Rivera was driving a motorcycle east on Alkali Road just after 10 a.m. when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed in an attempt to avoid a car in his path, a news report said.
Rivera, 55, was not wearing a helmet in the accident. He suffered major injuries that are considered life-threatening. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The driver of the car was identified as Douglas Bryant, 46. Bryant made a U-turn in front of Rivera just before the accident.
Bryant was not injured in the crash.
It was reported that he was cited for driving on the wrong side of the road.
