Log Truck Spills Load on Highway 87 in Weirgate, Leaving Driver Injured
www.kjas.comWeirgate, Texas — The driver of a large, white log truck was hurt and sent to a hospital in Jasper to be treated for his injuries after an accident. This happened on Monday, August 10, 2015 along Highway 87.So far, not many details have been released about what happened, but the accident appeared to happened north of Burkeville, near Weirgate. The exact time wasn’t given.
Highway 87 runs north-south in that area and a portion of it curves around the Weirgate area, the Newton County Sheriff’s Office stated in their report.
They believe that the this log truck was headed along the highway and lost control along the sharp curve (shown below) and tipped over. The logs on the back of the trailer spilled and the truck flipped over onto the passenger side. The driver was taken to a Jasper hospital, but his name and condition aren’t being released right now.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.
