Reports say that the semi-truck involved in the accident was trying to pass the victim’s vehicle at the time. So, it seems as if the semi crashed into it as it passed. My question is, why wasn’t the driver of the semi able to slow down, or safely move into another lane? From what’s being described, I have to wonder one, how fast was the truck moving at the time, and two, how closely was it following the vehicle? Had it been traveling at a safe speed and a safe distance, would it have been able to avoid the accident? Whenever something unexpected happens out on the road, seconds can mean the different between life and death. Small decisions like driving with plenty of space between you and the person ahead of you can give you those extra seconds you need to react to something unexpected.
